DEVILS PREPARE FOR SILVER MEETS

October 13, 2009

CROSS COUNTRY: Hinsdale Central's girls and boys teams will compete at the West Suburban Conference Silver Division Meet Saturday at Camera Park in Glendale Heights. The varsity girls are scheduled at 1 p.m. followed by the varsity boys at 1:30 p.m.

The overall standings are a 50-50 combination of dual-meet and Silver Meet results. The Hinsdale Central girls, ranked No. 7 in last week's Illinois Cross Country Coaches Association Class 3A state poll, went 6-0 in duals and can guarantee at least a share of their eighth straight overall title with a top-two finish. The Hinsdale Central boys finished 2-4 in Silver duals.

In their Silver dual finales Oct. 8, the girls swept Oak Park 20-38 and Glenbard West 21-37 at Katherine Legge Memorial Park, and the boys beat Glenbard West 25-32 and lost to No. 6 Oak Park 20-35 at Schiller Woods.

Junior Billy Fayette (16 minutes, 16 seconds for 3.0 miles) won the boys race by seven seconds. Pete Stubbings was eighth (16:40) and Joe Berg (16:53), Alex Stec (16:55) and Zach Withall (17:04) were 11th through 13th.

Katie Kummerer (18 minutes, 50 seconds for 3.0 miles) was second in the girls race with Grace Hucek (19:31), Grace Klein (19:38) and Rita Kuckertz (19:40) fourth through sixth and Colleen Leahy (20:10) ninth.
